Fitbit Flex Versus The Jawbone Up

Fitbit To Take On The Jawbone Up: But Does The Fitbit Flex Stack Up?

While Fitbit was one of the first to produce a high quality fitness gadget, they have been bombarded with competition from the Jawbone Up and The Nike Fuel Band, but Fitbit has answered the challenges and has announced the release of their own activity tracking wristband, The Fitbit Flex, which will be released in Spring 2003.

The Fitbit Flex will come packed with the features that everyone loves about past Fitbit products such as
  • Tracks Your Steps Taken and Distance Traveled
  • Calories Burned
  • Activity Levels
  • Sleep Quality Monitoring
The Flex will not have the ability to tracked steps climbed like some of the latest Fitbit releases.

Fitbit Flex will come with Bluetooth 4.0, which will allow for wireless syncing to your Iphone 4s and above, Ipad, Ipod and some Android Smart Phones. The Jawbone Up does not have the capability to sync wirelessly.

Price is close between the two but Fitbit has stayed with their under $100 model and priced the Fitbit Flex at $99.95 with Free Shipping compared to Jawbone's $130 Up.

I have had a chance to use the online interface for both Fitbit and Jawbone and can say that Fitbit wins hands down. For those who have never had the experience of using Fitbit online or participated in the Fitbit online community, it truly is a value adder all by itself.

Fitbit's online interface allows you to track progress, enter foods and monitor calories consumed, check out your sleep patterns, see what parts of the day you are most/least active and so much more. You can join in the online community and share stories, earn badges, compete with other and find the answers to any questions you may have.

Another cool feature of the Fitbit Flex is that the actual tracking device can be removed and swapped into one of 5 different color wristbands to match your style or your mood or can be clipped just about anywhere on your clothes.

While both the Jawbone Up and Fitbit Flex have pros and cons, I have been a fan of Fitbit since they took the market by storm in 2009, and while I will not be able to get my hands on a Flex until they begin to ship in the Spring, I can already predict that Fitbit will keep to their trend of producing the highest quality fitness gadgets on the market.

As soon as I get my hands on one of these bad boys I will post my full Fitbit Flex Review so come back soon....
